What stays on your computer
- Everything you capture or record, saved in the folder you choose (at first, an Oncesnap folder in your Pictures folder). The start window lists what is in that folder; nothing is copied anywhere else.
- The text Oncesnap reads. Text and QR recognition run on your computer, offline, in English, Hebrew and the languages your system already reads. The recognised text goes to your clipboard or a file you save, nowhere else.
- Your settings and a troubleshooting log. The log records what the app did and how long it took, such as how many lines of text were found, never the text itself and never what you capture.
To remove everything, uninstall Oncesnap and delete its captures folder.
When Oncesnap goes online
Only for these three things:
- The update check. Oncesnap asks this website for the number of the latest version. Like any web request it carries your internet address and the app's version; nothing about your captures is sent. You can turn the check off in Settings.
- Your licence. When you unlock Oncesnap, and now and then afterwards, it sends your licence key and a random number that stands for your computer to our payment provider, to confirm the purchase and how many computers use it.
- Uploads you choose. Only if you connect your own Dropbox or Google Drive and pick it as a destination is a capture uploaded, and only to your account. Google access is limited to the files Oncesnap creates. Sign-in tokens are kept in your system's secure storage (the Keychain on a Mac, Windows' own protected storage on a PC), and Settings removes them.
Permissions
- Screen Recording (Mac), because a screenshot is a picture of the screen.
- Accessibility (Mac), so the shortcuts work in every app and a scrolling capture can scroll the page for you.
- Notifications (optional), to say a capture was copied, saved or uploaded.
Oncesnap never asks for your camera, your microphone, your contacts or your location. On Windows it asks for no special permission.
Purchases
When Oncesnap goes on sale, payments are handled by our payment provider as the merchant of record, or by Apple for the Mac App Store edition. They receive your payment details under their own privacy policies; we never see your card. We receive your email address, the order and the licence key, to send receipts and to help you.
This website
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from any other site. If you email us, we use your address only to answer you, or to tell you Oncesnap is out if that is what you asked.
Children
Oncesnap is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this ever changes, this page will say so, with a new "last updated" date above.
